About the art:

This diptych explores the collision between place and memory.

The landscapes are inspired by my favorite locations in New Mexico; spaces that once held joy, awe, and a deep sense of belonging. During a pivotal moment in my life, I brought someone I believed was special to these places. The experience that followed complicated those memories in ways I didn’t expect.

Across both panels, elastic connections stretch between forms, symbolizing the way moments in time bind themselves together. Memory is rarely singular: it layers, pulls, and sometimes constricts. Yet the bright colors resist that weight. They carry nostalgia, warmth, and the happiness these landscapes held long before they became complicated.

This diptych is about contrast: beauty and rupture, joy and disappointment, past and present. Reclaiming joy. It reflects the way places can hold multiple truths at once and how reclaiming them can become part of healing.
